DMA about pic.png

In 2009, Master Forsythe started Simple Self Defense with a desire and passion to teach self-defense and Tae Kwon Do to kids and adults.

In 2012, Simple Self Defense changed its name to Dynasty Martial Arts (DMA) and incorporated Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Boxing into its classes.

After teaching classes at La Mesa Community Center and the Joan Kroc Center for several years, in 2015 DMA opened their first dojo in La Mesa, where they are currently located.

Training at DMA allows students to become well rounded martial artists. Each program teaches skills from taekwondo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and boxing.

DMA is also an affiliate school of the Southwestern Association of Martial Arts and participates in regional activities and competitions.

What is the difference between Tae Kwon Do, jiu jitsu, and boxing?

Tae Kwon Do is a striking style of martial arts which puts a heavy emphasis on kicking techniques. Tae Kwon Do teaches other forms of striking such as punches, knees, and elbows, and also works on blocking techniques, stances, and footwork. Boxing is a striking style of martial arts that uses closed fists to deliver powerful blows to an opponent’s head or torso. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial arts and combat sports system that focuses on grappling and ground fighting. BJJ is founded on the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themselves against a bigger, stronger and/or heavier opponent by using technique, leverage, joint locks and chokes.

DMA CREED

I am a student of life. Every person I meet is a teacher, and every environment is a classroom. As a leader I must never stop learning and know that before I can lead I must first learn to follow. Every obstacle I face is an opportunity to learn and can be overcome with an open mind, a plan and determination.
As long as I am willing to learn there is nothing I cannot do!
